My Irish Name
I know next to nothing about Ireland, so I feel I have little to offer the theme month at Rebecca Writes. I looked up some poetry and found one I liked by Yeats, but when I found out his spirituality, I couldn't post it in good conscience. I have been enjoying what others are offering up though. So anyway, I suppose I'll have to settle with showing you all my Irish name.

I had to do it about ten times before I found one I could pronounce. :)
Fiona is the name of the lead character --played by Cyd Charisse-- in a favorite old movie of mine, Brigadoon. The movie was not set in Ireland though, but in Scotland.

Ok, so it's a little hokey
--and unrelated to all things Irish--
but I do love some of the old musicals.

Hey Fiona, LOVE your name! As a natural freckle-faced redhead with blue eyes, I'm pretty Irish already. The name that came up (for the moniker Hope) is Alannah Malone, I love it. Aye!

Heh, I like the one you got too...
I have no idea what all is in my heritage. I know there's some French and some tribe of American Indian -- Cherokee I think, but I'm not sure. Would love to find out though!

I do have to admit though.... over your cup of what??? java???? you could pull off the Fiona nametag. :) At least the Fiona's that I've seen pictured in books anyways. :)

Wow! I look like a 'Fiona'? I shall grab onto that compliment and hold on for dear life! You have made my day!
On second thought, maybe this means the cup is hiding the truth...
LOL

Hey, this has nothing to do with your entry -- sorry -- but I appreciate you stopping in on my blog yesterday and giving your thoughts on that church discipline issue. I think it will encourage that lady a great deal to read your perspective.

Hi simplegifts3,
I do hope that's the case. It sounds like their faith is definitely being tested and tried.

There's lots of good Irish poetry out there. I've never really been a fan of Yeats myself.

Hmmm... perhaps I'll have to look a little harder. I'm not well versed on poetry.

Are you talking about the profile photo, like the one where I'm drinking coffee?
You need to sign up for a blogger account, which is free, then you can create your own profile which will allow you to put up a picture.
