It Is Well With My Soul
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.Refrain
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.Refrain
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!Refrain
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.Refrain
But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!Refrain
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.Refrain

I'm glad there is peace in your soul. Along those lines, I was listening to a Words To Live By testimony. It's really precious. You need to have tissues handy. Here is the link. Hope it works. http://www.radiobibleclass.org/radio_and_tv/words_to_live_by/52208.aspx

hmm.... some of those verses are new to me, others were "changed" and seem wrong to me, but it too, is a song that is one of my favourites. :) How are you doing this day?

Thanks for your comments ladies!
That's interesting that it was 'off' to you Annette. Would you post a copy of the way you know it either here or on your blog? I'd be curious to see the differences. The fourth and fifth were not familiar to me.

Jen, this song was so needed by me today. This morning my daughter informed me that she *was" going to school next year. My heart's been broken over this child for awhile now. I looked through my hymn book, and couldn't find a hymn to sing to bring encouragement. I missed this one, so thank you.
As for the differences in words with hymns, here is the reason. Different hymn books have different words. I didn't know about this until a few years ago. We had two Celebration hymn books, and needed another one. Because I had just begun going to a Baptist church, I wanted a Baptist hymnal, thinking the only difference would be in the songs that might be in it. We found out quickly that the songs were different too, so I had to go exchange it for the Celebration hymnal so that we could sing together.
My hymn book is missing these stanza's:
Refrain
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
Refrain
But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!
Are you still having trouble getting to my blog?

I'm so glad that you were blessed by this old hymn -- I've been blessed by it countless times!
She *was* going? Meaning she's not now? I'll pray with you about this situation.
I am able to get to your blog now!! And I see haloscan is back!

Yea! I'm thrilled that you can get to my blog now!
I think the crisis with my daughter is over for now. We had a long talk today, she cried, and I helped her to understand a few things. For now, she seems cool with everything.
Our family attended a volunteer orientation type of thing with a hospice care this evening. This has given both of my daughters something to look forward to, and it's something we can all do as a family.
